On Wednesday Oct 16th, DCHS Ag II and Ag III classes went on a field trip to Mema's Meats in Berthold with Ms. Bummer and Ms. Sabe. They learned about different cuts of meats, proper ways in producing an animal all the way through until the meat is ready to be sold, and what they are actually paying for from a butcher such as the hanging weight versus the live weight. The students got to watch the butchers cut up a whole beef. The owners told the students about their backgrounds in the oil industry and how their shop went from a truck repair and operation to a butcher shop along with their business plan of that transformation. The owners of Mema's Meats are very kind and explained everything very well for our students! It was a great trip!!
